New account on patriots.win? Why your comments aren't showing

If your account is new, many of your comments may be held by the automatic filter or removed before anyone reads them. They look normal to you, and the site doesn't notify you.

What everyone else sees

Instead of your comment, other people usually see one of these:

• Comment removed by community filter, pending further review. The comment is being held for a moderator to look at.
• Comment removed by community filter. The filter removed it.
• Comment removed by community moderators. A moderator removed it.

Why new accounts get held

Large communities like TheDonald deal with raiders and ban evaders who make fresh accounts, so new accounts get treated with suspicion. Regulars even have a name for them: “handshakes.” TheDonald's moderators have said new accounts' comments are held until the account is trusted. There's no published rule for how long that takes.

It isn't only held comments. In busy threads, comments from brand-new accounts are removed far more often than comments from established ones.

How to tell

• Check logged out. Open your comment's permalink in a private or incognito window. If you see one of the messages above, or nothing, it's hidden.
• Watch the score. A held comment never gets upvotes or replies, because nobody can see it. Comments stuck at 1 point are the ones to check.

What helps

• Keep posting normally. A moderator can approve held comments, and then they appear to everyone.
• Ask privately if something was removed by mistake. Send the community's moderators a private message rather than complaining in a thread.
• Don't start over with another account. A fresh account starts back at the bottom, and “ban evasion” is a common reason in the public ban log.
