Who sees what

Logged in, you still see your comment normally, in the thread and on your profile. Everyone else sees the filter message. Removed posts show Post removed by community filter.

What sets it off

• Certain words and phrases. The filter matches specific terms, and the list isn't published. An ordinary comment can trip it just by mentioning a filtered word.
• New accounts. Comments from brand-new accounts are often held automatically. See why new accounts' comments don't show.
• Edits. A comment that was fine when you posted it can be removed after you edit it.
• The whole account. Some accounts have every comment filtered. That works like a shadowban: everything you post is hidden, and nothing tells you.

The telltale sign: 1 point, no replies

A filtered comment is hidden from the start, so it never gets upvotes or replies. If your comments keep sitting at 1 point with no response, even in busy threads, check them first.
